Gordon is a published PhD astronomer who holds an MBA focused in entrepreneurship and has almost 40 years of experience in research, business strategy consulting and concept development. Gordon is an operational astronomer having worked at or on several telescopes globally. He assisted in the design, development, and site testing of the Large Millimeter Telescope (Mexico). Gordon has successfully conceptualized, promoted, and raised R120 million for the African VLBI Network telescope while working on South Africa’s successful bid to host the World’s largest radio telescope, the Square Kilometer Array when he was a consultant at the Department of Science & Technology (RSA). Outside of astronomy and government, Gordon has many years of senior management experience in companies in Angola, Canada, and South Africa. Finally, Gordon has advised many high tech projects across Southern Africa.
